Stuck in the basement. During the biggest summer storm. When the lights go out, some truths are harder to hide...
“Care to dance?” he asked, as he tapped on my shoulder.
I whirled around, surprised by the ask and caught myself staring up at the six-foot-something man in a backwards baseball hat and wide grin on his scruffy face. His hair was dark, and his eyes matched. All the blood in my body rushed to my face as I looked at him. The t-shirt he wore pulled across his wide chest, and there was a magnetic pull to him that made no sense.
"Sure,” I said, forgetting he had asked me a question.
He pulled me in, and we swayed together to the classic rock tunes floating through the air. His hands were hot on my hips as he held me close.
Beautiful writing and really engaging story!! The special Michigan shoutouts were noticed and appreciated. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to read more in the future!
It seemed really believable and fun... Yes, girl!
The story was very well written, and I greatly enjoyed reading it. You did a great job of tying in the supporting characters (Lane/Megan/Mary). I really liked how Mary turned into a mentor to Beth.
Hi — I'm Christie! I write small-town spicy romance that feels like a warm weekend away. I'm also a working mom of two littles, a wife, and a full-time professional.
I fit writing in between all the craziness of life, and I wrote Keeping It Local because I needed Beth's story as much as she did. I think you might too.
